About

Zoë LeDonne was born in California and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. She received a BFA in Painting and a BS in Biological Sciences from Colorado State University.

Her work focuses on telling visual narratives and visualizing emotional turmoil through symbolism associated with natural objects and animals. Even though different plants or animals may have different symbolic meanings (because of cultural differences or personal beliefs), the objects will guide the viewers to connect with the characters in her pieces to form narratives that go beyond the visual aesthetics of the work.

At times, her work is a visualization of trying to work through personal shortcomings or an attempt to better understand individuals who are close to her. Zoe's work showcases reoccurring figures in varying situations to allow her to work though feelings of exhaustion, being overwhelmed, loneliness, and unease. Whether the figures in Zoe's works are fictional or real, whether the symbols are well known or just subconsciously understood, they allow the viewer to piece together a narrative, both for the characters and for herself.

When not painting, the artist can be found trying to learn Photoshop, struggling to keep her Christmas cacti alive, and attempting to go a day without having at least one cup of coffee.
